Are you open all year?

Yes, our lodge & some of our cottages are available year-round. Our restaurant & marina close for the winter, usually November through February. Visit our Resort Hours page to view specific dates and hours. 

 

With what are the cottages equipped?

Cottages are fully furnished with a coffee pot, basic pots, pans, dishes, silverware, towels, linens, dish towels, dish detergent, bath soap, toilet tissue, garbage bags, charcoal grill, cable TV, DVD player, stove, refrigerator and microwaves. Lodge rooms are equipped with a small refrigerator, microwave, small coffee pot with coffee and filter, cable TV, DVD player, hair dryer, towels, linens, bath soap, hair conditioner and shampoo. Are coffee & coffee filters furnished in the cottages?

No, coffee and filters are NOT furnished in the cottages.  However, the lodge rooms do come with a small coffee pot WITH coffee and filters.

 

Are the cottages air-conditioned?

Yes, the newer cottages have central heat and air, and the older ones have window units.

 

What is the deposit return policy on lodging reservations?

If you cancel your reservation more than 30 days from your arrival date, we will put your deposit onto a Gift Certificate to be used within one year.  If you cancel less than 30 days from your arrival date, your deposit will be forfeited.

 

Do you offer senior citizen, military, or AARP discounts?

Unfortunately, we do not offer additional discounts.  We strive to keep our rates as low as we possibly can for all our guests.

 

How old are your cottages?

Some are brand new this year.  Some are brand new.  Some were built in the 70s, however, they have been recently renovated. 

 

What if I arrive after the office has closed for the evening?

Call 1-800-626-5472 during business hours for instructions. 

 

Do you allow pets?

Pets are allowed in cottages only.  There is a $35 non-refundable pet fee required for the first pet.  Additional pets are charged at the rate of $15. Any damage to the cottage or contents, or any excessive cleaning required, will be charged in addition to the normal pet fee.  Sorry, no pets are allowed in the lodge.

 

Do you have laundry facilities?

Yes, we have a coin-operated washer & dryer.

 

How old is your resort?

Although most of the facility is new or relatively new, the original “MOORES CAMP” was founded in 1951.

 

Can we leave our boat in the water behind the cottages?

Yes, you may tie up behind the waterfront cottages, but it is at your own risk.  There are no docks behind cottages.  There are Boat Slips available to rent at the marina.

 

When is your restaurant open?

Typically, the restaurant is open from the first of March until the end of October, however, our restaurant offers catering year round for groups and special occasions.  The restaurant is normally open from 6 or 7AM until 8 or 9PM during the summer.  Spring and Fall hours vary.  Visit our Resort Hours page for specific dates and hours.

 

Does the restaurant serve breakfast, lunch, & dinner?

Yes, along with daily specials. Ralph's Harborview Bar & Grill is closed typically December through February. Visit our Resort Hours page for specific dates and hours.

 

How far is it from the lodge & cottages to the marina?

Approximately 200-300 yards.  Everything is within walking distance on the resort. Check out our Resort Map.

 

How far is it from the lodge & cottages to the water?

Some cottages are waterfront – some 100-200 yards away. Check out our Resort Map.

 

Can we see the water from our cottage?

Moors is surrounded on 3 sides by water. You can see the water from just about anywhere on the resort. Some units are closer to the water than others. See the Resort Map for cottage locations.

 

Do you allow extra housekeeping at an additional charge?

Unfortunately, no.  Our staffing is based on our everyday needs and we do not have extra help.  The lodge rooms are freshened daily.  Cottages are cleaned before arrival and after departure.  Fresh towels are provided daily to all guests.  We will provide fresh bed linens upon request.

 

Do lodge rooms have coffee pots, microwaves, or refrigerators?

Yes, our lodge rooms have a microwave, small refrigerator, coffee pot and hair dryer.  We also have a full service restaurant on the premises and our cottages have fully equipped kitchens.

 

Do you sell alcohol?

Our on-site restaurant, Ralph's Harborview Bar & Grill, serves beer, wine, & spirits by the drink. We have a limited selection of packaged beer for sale at the office gift shop, as well as the marina. You can purchase packaged liquor 2.5 miles down Moors Camp Hwy. at Mason and Pawley's. For a larger selection, visit Cellar Door in Draffenville, and Calvert City even sells on Sundays.

Where is the nearest hospital?

Marshall County Hospital is in Benton, which is about 15 miles away. There are two hospitals in Paducah, about a 30-40 minute drive.

 

How far away is a grocery store?

The closest grocery stores are located in Draffenville, which is about 10 miles from the resort.  There is a Super Wal-Mart in Benton, which is about 15 miles away.  Our Marina also stocks a limited selection of groceries such as bread, coffee, etc.

 

Is there a place to fish without having a boat?

Yes, you may fish almost anywhere around our shoreline.  There’s over a mile of shoreline at Moors.

 

When is your marina open?

Typically from March 1st until October 31st and the operating hours vary around sunrise to sunset.  See our Resort Hours page for specific dates and hours.  The Marina can also be of service during off-season by simply contacting our office to make arrangements.

 

Do you rent boat slips?

Yes. We rent covered and uncovered slips, both transient and annual. See our Boat Slips page for details.

How old do you have to be to rent a boat?

18 years old.

 

If the weather is bad, do we get our deposit back on a boat rental?

Yes, as long as you contact the marina in advance.

 

Do you rent houseboats?

No. We have in the past, but do not at this time.

 

What is the maximum persons capacity for a pontoon?

Family Pontoons: 10, Sport Pontoons: 8, Fishing Pontoons: 7

 

What is the maximum persons capacity for a ski boat?

7

 

What is the maximum persons capacity for a jon boat?

3

 

What is the maximum persons capacity for a waverunner?

2

 

Do you furnish life jackets with boat rentals?

Yes, we furnish all legalities.

 

Do you furnish skis & other equipment with boat rentals?

Ski boat rentals are equipped with skis, but other boat rentals and equipment, such as wakeboards & tubes, are a separate charge.

 

Are there grills on the rental pontoons?

No.

 

Do you sell fishing licenses?

Yes.

 

At what age do you need a fishing license?

You need a fishing license if you are 16 or older.  For other info on fishing rules and regulations, visit the website of KY Fish & Wildlife, where you may also purchase your license online.

 

When is the best time to fish?

Do you have tent camping?

No.

 

Are lawn chairs provided at the beach & pool?

Lawn chairs are provided at the pool, but not at the beach.

 

When is the pool open?

From Memorial Day thru Labor Day (or later if weather permits) from 10:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. daily.  The water depth is from 3 ft. – 7 ft.  There IS NOT a lifeguard on duty at either the beach or the pool. 

 

Do you have a fish cleaning service, station, and place to store fish?

We do not clean your fish for you.  We do, however, have a cleaning station and can store your fish for you, but they must be properly contained and your name clearly marked.

 

Do you rent golf carts? How old must you be to drive?

Yes, we rent golf carts but you MUST be at least 16 years old to drive them (strictly enforced) and you must be staying on the resort. Golf carts are not allowed to leave our resort.   Call or visit our office to reserve a cart.

 

Are there any airports nearby?

There are 2 small airports.  Barkley Regional (270-744-0522) is about 45 minutes away and Kentucky Dam (270-362-4271) is about 20 minutes away.  The closest major airport is in Nashville, Tennessee, which is about 2 hours away. 

 

Do you have a shuttle service? Where can I rent a car?

No, we do not have a shuttle service, but do call us and see if we can find you a solution.

 

Is there anywhere to do hiking, bicycling, or ride ATV's?

You will find all the above at Land Between the Lakes (LBL), just a short drive from Moors. 

 

What is the difference between Kentucky Lake & Lake Barkley?

They are two separate bodies of water joined by a free-flowing canal located at the north end of both lakes. The land between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley is, you guessed it, Land Between The Lakes!
